Give the chance to walk

There are gifts that go beyond things. One of them is the ability to walk. Every step we take without pain or effort often goes unnoticed, but for those for whom movement is an insurmountable obstacle, it is the ultimate dream. For these children, every step is not only a physical movement, but also a symbol of hope, independence and freedom. This dream can become a reality with the help of all of us. "Give the chance to walk" is an invitation to contribute to the recovery path of children and young people by helping them to get the rehabilitation, treatment and care they need.

It is a gift that changes lives. It's a gift that allows a child to rediscover the world and believe in themselves.

Via Support Portal everyone can contribute to the already existing projects or initiate yourso that even more people can feel the power of support. Donations promote kindness by giving hope, motivation and opportunities to those who need it most.

The Donation Portal offers a unique opportunity for everyone: for those who want to raise funds for their own project, and for people who want to contribute to worthy initiatives. It is a virtual space where creators, organisers and philanthropic donors come together to create meaningful change in society.

Give the chance to walk

Why contribute?

When a child can't walk, his or her life is limited to treatment rooms, painful treatment schedules and constant waiting.

Waiting - until things get better, until the money is raised, until it is possible to go to a rehabilitation centre. Rehabilitation and specialised treatment is the only way to an independent and full life. It is a process that requires not only medical equipment and specialist knowledge, but also moral and financial support. "Give the chance to walk" is not just an invitation to help, not just a donation for treatment...

It is about helping a child to grow, develop, interact and be a child without physical limitations. When we contribute to such initiatives, we not only facilitate treatment, but also inspire families and give them hope that they are not alone on this difficult path.

Three stories that call for action

There are currently three projects on the Support Portal that are in particular need of our attention and the kindness of our hearts.

1.Help me get well and walk.

Nikolytė was born at 24 weeks. She spent 3 months in hospital. She suffered a severe stroke, which left her with devastating consequences. Today she has cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and intractable epilepsy, which makes her life much more difficult.

Epilepsy is drug-resistant and regularly brings Nicole back to her sickbed when she needs oxygen and resuscitation to stop her seizures. Nicole is scheduled for treatment with psychotropic drugs, which can leave her apathetic and sleepy.

Parents do not give up. They fight the girl's illnesses. They are looking for innovative and unregistered medicines to free their child from hourly seizures and to help her learn to walk again. She has managed to find information that such medicines are available. We are currently corresponding with several clinics and collecting documents for a remote consultation. Despite these challenges, Nicole is a strong girl - she is an intelligent child who smiles a lot. She dreams of walking on her own two feet.

Epilepsy robs a girl of her strength. Today, Nikolytė walks just one metre. In addition, the child needs complex rehabilitation under the supervision of doctors and advanced measures. In Warsaw, we managed to find one. New technologies help not to lose what the child has learnt before epilepsy (she fell ill at the age of four). In Lithuania, it is necessary to maintain continuous physical fitness.

Although the condition is difficult - both legs and an arm are paralysed - there is hope and opportunity. There is hope and hope and hope and hope for the future. She speaks a lot about love and friendship. She is willing to walk on her own two feet. And she can do it. She had already started walking.

If you would agree to join us on our trip, she would be extremely grateful. With financial support, the family would travel abroad to find the right drugs to treat her epilepsy, innovative orthopaedic treatment, and live and walk with advanced tools, complex rehabilitation programmes to get her back on her feet and restore what her seizures have taken away.

You can contribute here.

2.Hope for Patricia to walk.

A little girl needs help - so she can one day walk on her own two feet.

Hi, I'm Patricia

I'm three. I have cerebral palsy - my brain doesn't exactly "tell" my body to move, so I can't walk yet. But I really want to. Very much! This is my biggest dream - to walk and run like other children.

To make this possible, I exercise a lot. Every day. I am trained by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and a speech therapist. I am learning not only to move, but also to speak, to concentrate, to develop fine motor skills. My development is a bit behind, so I have a lot of catching up to do, both physically and mentally. I try with all my heart.

But all this requires a lot of effort from me and my family - and also a lot of money. In Lithuania alone, I need constant therapies, special tools, and aids for everyday use. And the intensive rehabilitation abroad, which gives the biggest boost to my movement, costs around €4,000 per session - including travel, accommodation and therapies.

In July, we are planning to go to an important rehabilitation. This is a very important milestone on my way to my first steps. But for that, we really need your help.

If you can, please contribute. Every euro you donate becomes my hope. Hope to walk, to stand, to run.

I want it very much and I am trying very hard. Help me to step out into the world on my own two feet.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Patricia and her family.

3.Give Kristijonas a rehabilitation in Poland.

Kristijonas is a six-year-old boy who is battling traumatic diplegic palsy. Three years ago, Kristijon underwent a complex five-hour spinal surgery called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy). During the operation, the bad nerves causing the trap in his legs were removed. The operation was a success and we were given the hope of living a full life. However, the leg muscles remained very weak. "As much as you reach, so much you will have." - So we were told. And from that day on, the never-ending rehabilitation began.

Kristijonas is currently undergoing intensive training to take independent steps. His dream is to walk independently. The prognosis is very good, but continuous work with specialists is needed. In 2024, Kristijonas had 11 intensive rehabilitation sessions, including six in Poland. The annual costs amounted to €34,000. Therefore, the family is constantly looking for sources of financial support. In a family of four, one dad works, so the income is not enough.

Rehabilitation in Poland is yielding incredible results, but we cannot stop. In July, Kristijonas will undergo another three-week rehabilitation in Poland at a cost of €5000.

In Poland, the plan is to work up to 6 hours a day:

  • 3 hours of physiotherapy

  • 1 hour with the GEO gait robot

  • 1 hour of sensory integration

  • 1 hour of eye therapy

This rehabilitation is essential for Kristijonas! Join the journey.

How can you help?

You can contribute to these initiatives through Support Portalby selecting one or more projects and making a donation.

You can do it in a few minutes, but the consequences of your action will last for a long time - sometimes a lifetime. This donation is not just a number in a bank transfer, it is a very concrete action that can make a difference to a child's future. You can also share this information with friends, family or colleagues - the more people who find out about these projects, the better the chances of children getting what they need.

Maybe your sharing will be the reason why someone else contributed and made a dream come true.

Let's give life, not just a chance

When we give the gift of walking, we give more than just physical freedom.

We give the gift of running with friends, of going to school without barriers, of playing, dancing, singing and living. "Give a Walk is a chance for all of us to be a light on someone's path. It's not just a nice gesture - it's a concrete, life-changing decision. Together, we can make miracles happen - one step or one euro at a time, changing the world.

Let's start today, because every day a child can't take a step is a lost opportunity that we can help bring back.

Caring for others starts with small steps that, while seemingly insignificant, have a big impact on our own lives and the lives of others. Each of us can find our own unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of others - whether it's through a friendly conversation, helping a loved one or volunteering in the community. The most important thing is to realise that even the smallest acts of kindness have the power to spread joy and warmth to others.

The kindness we give to others is often returned in spades. It not only strengthens the bonds between people, but also enriches our own lives, giving us a sense of meaning and fullness. We therefore invite everyone to make sense of their lives by actively contributing to the happiness and well-being of others.
